Sun Microsystems Inc and Fujitsu Ltd, the world’s second largest computer company, are expected to announce extensions of their on-going alliance – Fujitsu is a big reseller of Sun workstations in Japan and a major fabricator of Sparc chips – to cover technology transfers in the areas of chips, systems and software, but there is scepticism that the deal will include Fujitsu standardising on Solaris Unix as Sun would dearly like.
