SUN JAVA DISCLAIMER – PREVENTION OR CURE?

Why did Sun Microsystems Inc put all that stuff in the Java license agreement about it not being designed for use or resale in hazardous environments such as nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation, life support machines, weapons etc (CI No 3,243, 3,244) One of our readers asks the question: did Sun put that in as a preventive measure or to prevent any more occurrences?
