Sun Microsystems Inc has cut its workstation prices by up to 35% on mid-range and high-end systems such as the Ultra 60 and Ultra 2. The Ultra 60 Model 1360 now costs $9,995, and a dual processor Ultra 60 is $13,595. Sun also cut the base price of its older S- Bus-based Ultra 2 range from $15,645 down to $10,900 for the Model 1300, a 30% reduction. It also upgraded the base-level graphics and doubled hard disk capacity to 9Gb on Ultra 2 workstations. Sun also cut the prices of its workgroup servers, with multiprocessor servers now starting at $7,995 for the Enterprise 250, and $16,975 for the Enterprise 2, a reduction of 35%. Prices on the Enterprise 450 servers were cut by 13% down to $17,235.
