SUMISHO ELECTRIC SYSTEMS OFFERS THE EXB8200

Sumisho Electric Systems is offering a high-capacity videotape cartridge storage system, the EXB8200, for DEC’s VAX series: the drive uses 8mm tape to store 3.2Gb, and is claimed to record and retrieve data 20 times faster than conventional cartridge tapes; aimed at the CAD/CAM and CAE markets, the drive is being offered at around $8,000.
