The US cellular telephone industry is commissioning a study into whether there are adverse health affects from cellular telephone headsets and antennae following the filing of a suit by a Florida man, David Reynard, against NEC Corp and GTE Corp alleging that his wife’s addiction to using her cellular telephone contributed to the development of a brain tumour from which she dies; the study will be conducted by Om Gandhi, a scientist at the University of Utah and co-chairman of the group that sets IEEE standards; the US Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association also asked the US federal government to establish a committee of scientists to sift through existing research on RF transmissions.
