STRATUS JAPAN HAS DISTRIBUTORSHIP AGREEMENT WITH JAPAN SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SALE OF COLT

Faced with only 10 to 15 packages for its fault-tolerant supermicros in Japan, against 300 or so in the US and Europe, Stratus Computer Inc’s Japanese subsidiary is to begin acting as broker for introduction of appropriate foreign software into Japan, the first agreement being the conclusion of a distributorship agreement with one of the larger local software companies, Japan Software Development for the sale of the COLT Continuous On-Line Trading 24-hour stock trading system from Thorn EMI Software Sciences here in the UK: Japan Software Development will translate the software into Japanese and provide maintenance and support; the Japanese arm of Stratus was formed in July 1986, and is making steady progress with 1987 sales of $5.5m
