Marlborough, Massachusetts-based Stratus Computer Inc and Systems Design Associates Inc of Lambertville, New Jersey have announced that Systems DataSafe disaster protection software is available on Stratus XA2000 and XA/R Continuous Processing Systems; the software is targeted at companies that cannot tolerate computer down time or information loss; DataSafe enables data files to be mirrored on two or more Stratus systems, and this electronic vaulting provides a hot back-up of all transactions to a remote system in real time; if disaster strikes, the stored data is accessible from the systems at other locations; Release 1.0 supports applications running under VOS and Release 2.0, scheduled for second quarter 1992, will add support for transaction protection; Release 3.0 is scheduled for fourth quarter 1992, and it will support Unix System V.4 implementations, including Stratus FTX; the software will support mixed networks of VOS-and FTX-based systems; it is available now and it costs from $70,000 for the two-system configuration.
