Stratavia, a provider of application stack automation, has released the public beta of Data Palette Express, a downloadable version of data centre automation software that can be deployed for free on up to 10 servers.

Stratavia said that the Data Palette Express includes many of the features offered by Data Palette Enterprise including point-and-click application provisioning, code deployments and maintenance for application servers and databases. It ships with operations for application stack lifecycle management.

According to Stratavia, the new application includes features for installations, patch deployments, code releases, user maintenance, and backup operations, all from a web-based self-service console.

The company said that it is providing customers the option to upgrade their free version of Data Palette Express to the commercial Enterprise edition of Data Palette that offers deployment rights, support and functionality for VMware SpringSource, IBM WebSphere, Microsoft IIS, and Oracle WebLogic application servers as well as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Sybase ASE databases running on Unix, Linux and Windows platforms.

Thor Culverhouse, president and CEO of Stratavia, said: “With Stratavia’s Data Palette, IT administrators can automate the full lifecycle of application operations including provisioning, patching, configuration management, recurring maintenance, change requests and service requests, thereby enabling companies to realise economies of scale and better return on investment from the cloud.”
