Stratagem Group Plc’s computer services subsidiary, Firstpoint Ltd, reported a 10% rise in pre-tax profits, despite costs of around ú100,000 incurred from the establishment of MasterSoft Solutions Ltd in July. Pre-tax profits were ú1.48m, from ú1.34m last time, on turnover of around ú15m, up slightly on a year ago. MasterSoft was set up to sell Helpdesk, an internal helpdesk system software for which Stratgem acquired the UK distribution rights earlier this year. Stratagem’s chairman Bernard Kerrison described the internal helpdesk market as a wonderful growth area. He emphasised the company’s intention to provide wider helpdesk services, to the extent of renting out bodies to operate the help desks, with or without Firstpoint’s software. Stratagem Integrated Services, the third-party maintenance arm established last year is also expanding its service activities, according to Kerrison. Overall, Stratagem, which also incorporate Henderson-Bostwick Industrial Doors; ASC, distributing access control equipment, switches, garage doors and architectural ironmongery and Veritas’s four car dealerships, turned in pre-tax profits up 91% to ú4.1m, on turnover up 13% at ú90.7m. A final 4p dividend makes six pence for the year, up from five pence last time.
