Commenting on its fourth quarter loss and full year profit slump (see page seven), Storage Technology Corp says that the higher rate of investment in research and development exerted pressure on short-term profits, but has positioned it well for future growth, and that it expects revenue contributions from many of a host of new products scheduled to come on stream in 1993; the cash position near doubled to $118m at the end of the year from $66m in the third quarter; by the end of 1992, StorageTek had shipped approximately 4,950 tape libraries to 1,600 sites worldwide, about 57% of them outside the US; on the Iceberg disk array it will say only that progress continues.
