Storage Area Networks Adds Gigabit Ethernet to DiskLink

By CBR Staff Writer

UK storage specialist Storage Area Networks Ltd will today demonstrate the latest version of its DiskLink gateway product, adding interfaces for OC-12 ATM and Gigabit Ethernet networks for both SCSI and Fibre Channel-based SANs. The Cambridge, UK-based company will carry out the demonstration of its DiskLink FC offering at the Fibre Channel Technology Conference being held in San Jose, California.

The company said the features in the new version include ATM connections at 622Mbps, Fibre Channel (FC-AL) connections directly to storage devices and servers via FC switches or hubs, Ultra 2 SCSI connections, Gigabit Ethernet IP connections and an improved management interface with support for SNMP and web browser management. It expects general availability for the units in January 2000, when they will retail from about $15,000 each.
