STILL WAITING FOR BIG ONE, NIXDORF FINDS TWO PARTNERS

After 25 years of underachievement in computers, Siemens AG is not prepared to tolerate the underperformance of its Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG arm any longer, and is looking for a partner to share the burden. In the meantime, the company itself has found itself a couple of partners, but not ones of the substance to meet its parent’s requirements. It has formed a joint venture called Sisis Informationssysteme GmbH with software developer Softcon Gesellschaft fur Software entwicklung mbH to specialize in library and documentation systems, with Siemens Nixdorf the dominant shareholder. Nixforf’s other alliance is with Steria SA of Paris, which which it plans to develop and sell products for financial markets.
