Stet SpA, Italy’s state telecommunications holding company, which is due to be privatised later next year or in 1995, already has Bell Atlantic Corp as a partner, but says it is looking for broad international alliances with other large companies, its managing director Michele Tedeschi told Reuter. In the meantime, it will press ahead with accords in specific sectors and try to deepen relationships with its existing foreign partners. It wants to join whatever alliance is finally established with France Telecom and Deutsche Bundespost Telekom, and insisted that it was not excluded from that alliance. It has agreed in principle to offer services for international clients, but won’t say with whom.
