Italian state telecommunications company Societa Finanziaria Telefonica per Azioni (Stet) has confirmed it is in talks over an alliance with AT&T Corp, reports the Wall Street Journal. Stet furiously denied reports of an alliance when they circulated some months ago (CI No 3,115) and AT&T declined to comment. Both companies are tight-lipped about the details of the alliance, but fresh rumors suggest AT&T would take a stake in Stet in its coming share offering this autumn.
