Sterling Software Inc has unveiled two new products designed to enable business users to access information they need to create reports, graphics and perform advanced analysis. The products fall into Sterling’s Vision line of products, on the applications management side of the business under the control of the Information Management division. Vision:Dimensions is an online analytical processing tool for Windows 95 and Windows NT that provides access to data residing in multidimensional databases for online analysis, reporting and graphical representation. The second new product in the range, Vision:Webaccess has been written in Java and is a thin client computing system designed to enable total enterprise data access and analysis over the web. Business users can design and handle reports, crosstabs and charts using live data. Sterling claims it has developed the new products to enable businesses to get an edge over competitors as data stored in databases, on legacy systems and in datawarehouses becomes increasingly important and more frequently accessed. Both products are available now. Vision:Webaccess starts at $26,500, while Vision:Dimensions for Oracle Express and Arbor Essbase starts at $500.
