STC WINS BRITISH TELECOM/MANX TELECOM CONTRACT

STC has won a British Telecom/Manx Telecom Ltd contract worth UKP3m to lay a 56 mile underwater optical fibre cable, thought to be the longest commercial unrepeatered system of its kind, between Millom, Cumbria on the UK mainland and Douglas, Isle of Man: the system is due to be finished by December 1987.
