STC GETS PART OF WORK ON THE TAT-9 FIBRE OPTIC CABLE

STC Plc gets $150m of the work associated with the manufacture of the TAT-9 fibre optic cable, to be co-owned by AT&T Co, British Telecommunications Plc; France Telecom; Teleglobe Canada, and Telefonica de Espana SA: the new transatlantic cable is scheduled to come into service in October 1991.
