STC CHAIRMAN COMMENTS ON THE GEC/SIEMENS BID FOR PLESSEY

By CBR Staff Writer

We are watching this one with a lot of interest, STC Plc chairman Lord Keith told the Evening Standard apropos the GEC Siemens bid for Plessey Co Plc: we will want to see how things unfold in the next 10 days or so – particularly to see if there is a reference to the Monopolies Commission, and I can think of no conceivable reason why it should not go to the Monopolies Commission; the paper suggests that STC and GEC were in a huddle earlier this year about making a break-up bid for Plessey, and that the talks ended three months ago.
