Just launched by Standard Microsystems Corp, Hauppauge, New York is a stackable 10Base-T hub designed for small and departmental local networks and a new version of its EliteView 3.0 network management software. Up to eight of the Elite 3812TP hubs can be stacked to form one 112-port logical repeater. A Simple Network Management Protocol Network Management Module added to any of the base units in a stack will manage between 14 and 112 ports; each module will allow for both in-band and out-of-band management. The units can be managed by any SNMP manager. The Elite 3812TP is available now. An unmanaged base unit will have a list price of UKP700, while a unit with a Network Management Module installed will cost UKP1,300. Standard Microsystems has also announced the launch of EliteView 3.0, a new version of its Windows-based network management application. New features include enhanced graphics with a Status-at-a-Glance feature displaying the most commonly requested statistics. It also now offers point and click control, third-party Management Information Base II support and an automated installation routine.
