The purchase of ambulatory functionality was concluded in December 2006. Southwest Regional Rehabilitation Center of Battle Creek (SRRC) had already successfully implemented the VisualMED clinical information system for inpatient care documentation two years ago. The new components support 100% paper-free documentation of physical, occupational and speech therapy activities performed in the outpatient setting. Continuity of care is assured through the seamless integration of inpatient and ambulatory documentation, and through facilitated communications with referring physicians in the surrounding community.

Rick Albaugh, information systems manager at SRRC, commented: Our hospital is pleased to continue its relationship with VisualMED by adopting the Ambulatory Clinical Information System for our outpatient rehabilitation services. A paperless medical record will help us to provide more efficient and accurate patient care, helping us to achieve our goal.
