High speed static memory chip maker Paradigm Technology Inc, which has seen revenues shrink dramatically since the sell-off if its wafer fabrication plant at the end of last year (CI No 3,036) has agreed to be acquired by IXYS Corp of Santa Clara, California. Milpitas, California-based Paradigm reported a net loss of $8.9m last year, down from $36.4m losses the previous year, but saw its revenues shrink from $23.2m in 1996 to $12.4m last year. IXYS, a power semiconductor, power modules and integrated circuit manufacturer for the power industry, had revenues of $55.32m and net income of $4.4m in 1997. IXYS also owns IXYS Semiconductor GmbH, the result of its acquisition of the Lampertheim, Germany-based ABB Power Semiconductor GmbH in 1989. IXYS will hold 95% of the fully-diluted capitalization of the combined company. The agreement is intended to give Paradigm the resources to make the needed investments in research and development to continue its SRAM development, said Paradigm president and CEO Michael Gulett.
