SRA bags $500m USDA contract

To provide ERP assistance including modernising and transforming systems

By CBR Staff Writer

SRA International, a provider of technology and strategic consulting services and offerings to government organisations and commercial clients, said that it has been awarded a single-award blanket purchase agreement (BPA) from US General Services Administration’s Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM), for SAP implementation across the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The application transformation and modernisation system integrator BPA is intended to enable USDA organisations to incorporate SAP enterprise resource planning tools in furtherance of agricultural, nutritional and development initiatives, among others, the company said.

The contract value under the single-award BPA against which future task orders are expected to be issued is $500m over a seven-year period.

Under the first initiative, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) will use the BPA to transform farm program benefit delivery through its Modernise and Innovate the Delivery of Agricultural Systems (MIDAS) project.

MIDAS will update FSA’s current delivery of farm program benefits by streamlining business processes, replacing obsolete technology and consolidating disparate local systems into a public-facing web-based enterprise-wide system, the company said.

The SRA team includes subcontractors Computer Sciences, Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM and SAP Consulting, as well as 11 qualified small businesses across the socioeconomic spectrum. Work on the BPA will be managed out of the company’s Washington, DC and Kansas City offices.

Max Hall, senior vice president at SRA, said: “USDA’s enterprise modernisation will empower the nation’s agricultural sector with enhanced technologies and business processes – significantly improving delivery of farm programs, reducing improper payments and increasing opportunities for better customer service in the rapidly changing agriculture community.”
