Making itself an even more attractive partner for one or other of the ambitious continental Europeans, Sprint Corp is to take a 25% stake in Call-Net Enterprises Inc of Toronto: the union between the third-largest US carrier and Canada’s largest telephone call reseller is the third major US-Canadian long-distance alliance in the past 12 months – MCI Communications Corp and the Stentor consortium, led by BCE Inc unit and former monopoly carrier Bell Canada forged a $350m technology exchange agreement in Spetember 1992 and AT&T Co and the Rogers Communications Inc-Canadian Pacific Ltd unit Unitel Communications Inc followed in January 1993 with AT&T acquiring a 20% stake.
