Sprint Corp this week reported a profit for the its fourth quarter despite stagnant sales. The Overland Park, Kansas-based telco turned in revenues of $6.5bn for the quarter ending December 31, down 0.2% on the year. Operating income was $388m compared to a $1.7bn loss the previous year. Net income was $39m, compared to a $1.2bn loss the previous year.
Sprint FON, the traditional telco business, generated net income of $294m on revenues of $3.7bn in the fourth quarter, while the Sprint PCS wireless group lost $255m on sales of $3.1bn.
For the year to date, sales were up 4.4% to $26.6bn. Net income was $630m compared to the previous year’s $1.4bn loss.
