Edinburgh, Scotland-based Spider Systems Ltd is extending its SpiderIntegrator range of routers with the launch of SpiderIntegrator Atto, aimed at the small office site. According to the company, the offering is available in two main configurations: as a remote bridge or a remote router. Spider says the product will provide direct connection to either leased lines or ISDN Basic Rate Interface. It can be linked to SpiderIntegrator Mezza and Pico units or other devices supporting Point-to-Point Protocol, at a central site from which it can be managed, says Spider. The remote bridge version is said to bridge all protocols transparently and support one local network and either two or one serial ports and one ISDN Basic Rate Interface. As a remote router, Atto is said to support one local network, one serial port and one ISDN Basic Rate Interface. Both versions will support bandwidth aggregation on-demand, using either two ISDN B channels, two serial channels or a serial channel plus an ISDN B channel, with the serial links running at up to 256Kbps, says Spider. Bandwidth augmentation is also available on-demand, with both products using two channels, for example one serial link plus one B channel, says the company. Compression is is said to be available on all wide area network interfaces, with claimed rates of up to six to one. The Atto’s Ethernet interface is said to support both AUI and 10Base-T. Additionally, says the company, there is a choice of interfaces for the serial lines, either X.21, V.24 or V.35. All wide area network interfaces is said to support full Point-to-Point Protocol with the Password Authentication Protocol. The SpiderIntegrator Atto Integrated Services Digital Network and serial line bridges will be available from next month, costing from UKP1,000; the SpiderIntegrator Atto Integrated Services Digital Network router will follow in March; pricing is to be announced.
