Edinburgh-based Spider Systems Ltd has a Token Ring local net analyser, the SpiderAnalyzer 320-R, for monitoring and analysing IBM and IEEE 802.5 Token Ring networks operating at 4Mbps Spider says it is especially useful on networks supporting ISO, NetBIOS, IPX and TCP/IP protocols: the 320-R is designed to collect statistics, log error conditions, detect alarms and capture packets in the background, while running other analysis functions or MS-DOS applications simultaneously; packaged in a Compaq Portable III, the 320-R will cost UKP12,000, with the basic board kit version at UKP9,000; an Ethernet and Token Ring combination product, the 320-ER, will cost UKP18,400 with the Compaq, UKP15,400 in the kit version.
