Spiceworks launches new IT profiles

The profiles let IT professionals showcase work and explore career opportunities.

By Kate Heslop

Spiceworks has launched new IT profiles with project pages and a job board to help more than 4 million IT professionals to showcase their work, gain technical expertise and identify new career opportunities.

Spiceworks aims to rethink the typical IT resume and how IT professionals find their next job by highlighting their experiences and providing career resources within the network they use each day.

Spiceworks’ new profiles are designed to help IT professionals bring their IT experiences to life by highlighting their skills and the technologies they use to do their jobs. Profiles include community contributions, the vendors they follow, content they find valuable, and traditional resume components such as past work experience and certifications.

IT professionals are able to use Spiceworks to find new job opportunities. They can be filtered by job title, skills, hiring company or location, and IT professionals can also post openings available at their company. When coupled with Spiceworks’ new profiles, IT professionals can showcase their portfolio of work and find career opportunities.

Tabrez Syed, vice president of products at Spiceworks said: "IT professionals have an amazing ability to architect and use technology solutions to solve really complex business problems, so we wanted to give them a way to share those experiences with peers, partners and future employers. Collectively, the new profiles and job board represent major steps forward in how IT professionals share information about themselves, their work and the technologies they rely on to do their jobs."

IT projects can now be added to any profile and can include photos, videos, geographic information, budgets and more than 40,000 individual IT products and services from Spiceworks’ catalogue of solutions. IT service providers who assisted with projects can also be included. Spiceworks’ profiles redefine the online IT resume by providing a rich, visually appealing account of the technologies and people involved in the IT experience.

Philip Moya, IT manager at San Antonio Kidney Disease Center said: "The online IT resume as we know it is now dead. IT is a complex job with thousands of vendors and hundreds of specialties, yet until now it wasn’t possible for us to showcase the work we do in a way that does it justice. Spiceworks has given IT professionals a vehicle to share the entire IT experience as it happens in a way that’s new, visually appealing and helps us advance our careers."
