Retalix, a provider of software applications for distributors and retailers, has announced that Spartan Stores, a grocery retailer, has deployed the Retalix Dock Scheduling software application at its distribution centers in Plymouth and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

According to Retalix, Dock Scheduling uses appointment-scheduling functions to optimise resources, predict labour demands, facilitate carrier scheduling via the web and streamline the flow of goods through the distribution centre.

The application tracks due dates, forecasts estimated loading and unloading durations, and recommends the appropriate warehouse dock and door.

Tom West, traffic manager for Spartan Stores, said: Our Retalix Dock Scheduling implementation has been a big success. We have found it to be extremely user-friendly, which has contributed to an overwhelming carrier acceptance. This acceptance has led to a significant increase in our web scheduling and allowed us to streamline our appointment process and cut our manned appointment line-hours in half.

Ray Carlin, executive vice president of Retalix USA, said: Clearly, Spartan’s vendor and carrier partners have readily adopted the Retalix Dock Scheduling application, creating a rapid ROI. As they integrate and leverage the full Retalix transportation suite, Spartan will achieve even greater benefits.
