SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE FILES VIDEO EXPANSION

New Haven, Connecticut-based Southern New England Telephone Co has filed a request with the Federal Communications Commission for an expansion of its video-on-demand trial: it wants to provide video dial tone to about 10,000 subscribers within parts of the Connecticut towns of West Hartford, New Britain, Farmington and Hartford, and to 10,000 more in parts of Norwalk, Darien, Stamford, Westport and Fairfield, all also in Connecticut; the proposed network will provide a minimum of 100 digital channels during initial stages of construction and testing, and will ultimately have over 500 channels capacity.
