The network, which will offer data transfer rates of up to 44.4 kbps, will be mainly targeted at corporate users.

Moves have also been made to aid the development of 3G networks in South America. The CDMA Development Group (CDG) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Association of Telecommunications Enterprises of the Andean Community (ASETA).

The joint venture is aimed for information exchange between the two associations on various aspects of 3G wireless technologies, in an effort to smooth the way for South American 3G network development.
