SONY Q3 PROFITS MORE THAN DOUBLED

By CBR Staff Writer

Sony Corp said profits for its fiscal third quarter more than doubled and it forecast that earnings would climb to a record high for the year, powered by strong sales of electronic goods, especially PlayStations, and a weak yen. It now expects group net profit equivalent to $1.07bn, nearly 2.5 times the figure last year, on sales of $44.7bn, a rise of 20%.
