Sony Broadcast and Professional has launched a rollabout videoconferencing system with built-in multipoint and motion- sensitive object tracking camera. The Trinicom 3000 is compatible with, and has the same interface as, the Trinicom 4000 and 5000 and is targeted in between personal computer-based and group- based systems. In fact, says the company, it can function as both, with built-in three-site multipoint as well as the T.120 application and file sharing capabilities of a plain desktop system when connected to a personal computer. It is compliant with the H.320 standard, with T.120 available as an optional software upgrade. The company says the system is ideal for use as a shared departmental resource. It will be available in the first quarter of next year.
