Sony Corp will launch two new digital cameras in Japan in October, with the Cyber-shot DSC-F1 priced at $1,000 and the DKC-D5PRO at $1,800. The latter is already out in the US and Europe, and the DSC-F1 will also be available in the US at $850. It is a full-feature, high-speed camera with 1.152Mbps infra-red wireless capability to load pictures into a personal computer or send them to the $500 DPP-M55 printer. It includes a 1.8 screen, built-in 4Mb flash memory, flash, rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery, and is aimed at corporate presentations, visual documentation, in-house publishing, graphic design, multimedia production and Web development. It has a progressive scan square-pixel charge-coupled device capable of capturing 640 by 480 VGA quality non-interlaced resolution with 24-bit color. 30 to 108 images are stored in the Flash memory depending on compression.
