A report in the Japanese paper Kogyo Shimbum says Sony Corp has decided to end an original equipment manufacturers agreement with Intel Corp that has seen Intel making Sony’s desktop personal computers since last year (CI No 2,936) and will instead make its own PCs at its plant in San Diego, California. The company denied the report, saying it had no plans to end the agreement with Intel and that it has not yet decided whether to produce its PCs in the US. It does plan to introduce notebook PCs in July in the US and Japan, with most of the production being done in Japan.
