The firmware 1.50 update will allow PS3 owners to connect a PaSoRi reader to make payments using Edy, a contactless prepaid e-money card service based on FeliCa technology developed by Sony.
The payment service, which is currently only available in Japan, has been introduced to enable consumers to more easily load their Network Wallet with money to spend at Sony’s online movies store.
The update also includes wireless security enhancements, and various minor fixes.
