Commenting on its third quarter figures (see page 5), Sony Corp says that professional electronics, led by semiconductors and Japanese language word processors, rose 18% to $508m, and accounted for 16.2% of its total turnover in the most recent quarter – but while domestic sales overall were up 23% to $1,163m, sales to Europe were up a more modest 7.5%, and US sales, hit by the soaraway yen, declined 3.5%.
