SONY CLAIMS HAVING DEVELOPED 4M-BIT STATIC RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY CHIP

Sony Corp is one of several companies claiming to have developed the world’s first 4M-bit static random access memory chip: the Sony part has a fairly slow 25nS access time; Sony is currently producing about 2m memory chips a month at its Nagasaki plant the old Fiarchild Semiconductor plant, which it bought from National Semiconductor in 1987.
