By CBR Staff Writer

Sony has unveiled the Xperia Tablet Z which runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and is claimed to be waterproof and dust-proof.

The 6.9 millimetre tablet features a 10.1 inch display with WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine.

Xperia Tablet Z is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor and features 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a 8.1 megapixel Exmor R camera.

The tablet has a microSD expansion slot and features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, near field communication (NFC) and LTE support.

The company is planning to launch Xperia Tablet Z in Japan this spring.

Earlier this month, Sony released its new Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) powered Xperia Z smartphone, which it claims is dust and water resistant, durable glass display.

In May 2012, Sony Mobile Communications introduced two new water resistance smartphones: Xperia go and Xperia acro S, powered by Google’s Android.
