Sony has unveiled its selfie focused smartphone, Xperia C3 to benefit from the growing selfie craze.

Xperia C3 features a 5-megapixel wide-angle front facing camera with a superior auto mode, and a soft LED flash.

The 5 MP wide-angle front camera along with the soft flash can allow users to take selfie shots by double tapping the back cover or using Smile Shutter and they can be shared in three clicks.

The front camera can automatically adjust to suitable lighting conditions while the auto scene recognition function, which works together with HDR and LED flash, allows users to take better selfies and selfie videos in any light, the company claimed.

Xperia C3 comes pre-loaded with selfie camera apps which allows users to add fun graphics and animations to the pictures.

Sony Mobile Communications director of Xperia Marketing Calum MacDougall said created to offer social sharing experience with a ‘PROselfie cam’.

"It also presents a leading digital imaging technology along with specs and performance all for a mid-range price," MacDougall said.

"The rise of selfies shows no signs of abating – its usage has increased by 17,000% since 2012 with the word officially being added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013.

Xperia C3 is powered by Snapdragon Quad-core 1.2 Ghz processor and comes with 1GB RAM along with 8GB of expandable memory, and it will run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

At just 7.6mm and 150g, the phone features a 5.5 inch display and has an 8-megapixel rear cam with LED flash.

Sony has simultaneously launched a dual SIM variant of Xperia C3.
