Sony Mobile Communications has introduced a new waterproof and dustproof smartphone Xperia Z1 that is scheduled to launch globally from September 2013.

The new device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU and an Adreno 330 chip for graphics-related processing that supports 3D games and videos.

Sony Xperia Z1comes with a 5-inch TFT screen with FullHD display offering 1080×1920 pixels resolution and 20.7MP rear camera with G Lens, CMOS image sensor Exmor RS and a BIONZ sensor for mobile image processing engine.

Running on the Android 4.2.2 version of the Jelly Bean, the new phone features 2GB RAM, 16GB Flash memory that can be expanded up to 64 GB through microSD card.

The new smartphone supports the 4GLTE transmission and will be available with accessories including the QX10 or QX100 lens-style cameras that can be mounted on the smartphones and operated through the touchscreen.

Other options available with the phone include a Smart Imaging Stand IPT-DS10M that detects smiles and captures images without the need to hold the device, as well as a Smartphone Tripod SPA-MK20M a tripod stand.
