Sony has launched a new web-based Reader Store for the e-inked devices and companion apps, which will allow users to buy e-books without having to install Sony’s Reader Library software.
The new online Reader Store now allows users to access their account from any web browser and sign in and purchase content without the need to install any software to the computer, the company announced.
"Now you can discover your next story and buy it whenever it is convenient for you, and any eBook you buy from a web browser will be waiting for you on your Reader App or wireless device," Sony’s blog post read.
The web store supports browsers on Windows and Mac, including Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
The Reader App also features a new user interface, landscape viewing capabilities and an improved stability, according to Sony.
Reader Store eBooks work with Adobe DRM supported application which will enable users to download and read content on the Sony Reader device and also on some other non-Sony devices although the company believes the Reader Apps and devices are the best.
Sony has also launched a new update for the Android Reader App, which is now available at Google Play.
