Sonus Networks, a provider of IP-based network offerings, has unveiled enhancements to its ASX VoIP platform to triple its effective capacity, increase geographic resiliency and extend support for voice over broadband, cable, 4G/WiMAX networks, as well as legacy Class 5 deployments.

The company said that the new platform architecture supports up to three times greater densities and enables service providers to deploy SIP-based voice over broadband services with multiple layers of redundancy. It sets new standard for geographic resiliency by leveraging geographically dispersed servers that are treated as one virtual resource.

Sonus Networks claims that the ASX VoIP architectural improvements further reduce the time and complexity required to roll out end-to-end offerings. The platform integrates with other Sonus elements including the Network Border Switch (NBS-9000) for session security, PSX centralised policy and routing engine and GSX-9000 media gateways.
