Westerham, Kent-based Solutions for Sales Ltd has a new portable hard disk drive that uses 44Mb removable cartridges from SyQuest Technology and attaches to IBM and compatible personal computers without host adaptors or pre-configuration of the host: DiskXchange connects to standard parallel printer ports and has a temporary device driver which assigns a drive designation based on the next available drive or partition; it offers an average seek time of 20mS and uses SyQuest’s SQ55 drive and 44Mb SQ400 Winchester-based cartridges which are interchangeable with installed SyQuest drives in MS-DOS format.
