Privately-held WordPerfect Corp has released its fourth quarter and year-end sales figures for 1989, and reported a 60% increase over the previous 12 months. A strong fourth quarter figure of $89m boosted the year’s total to $281.4m, of which $90m came from international sales. The UK operation, based in Weybridge, Surrey, doubled its turnover for the third consecutive year. WordPerfect for IBM and compatible personal computers accounted for over 70% of revenue, but the firm says that its sales across other environments also increased. New offices were opened in Denmark and the Netherlands, and an additional 482 staff were recruited during the course of 1989. No word on profits.
