The Software Link Corp of Atlanta, Georgia claims that the new 5X version of its LANLink local area network transfers data at 500Kbps, five times faster than other software-based local area networks: special cables are required to connect MS-DOS micros via the parallel port, but no add-in board is required and the thing commandeers only 32Kb of memory on each hard disk machine; the server software costs $275, software for each micro on the network is $125, or $195 if you want multitasking capability.
