The US NT server manufacturer with whom German database vendor Software AG is in talks for a bundled offering of its Tamino XML database and application server is Compaq Computer Corp according to sources close to the company. However, the Darmstadt-based database developer is staying tight-lipped on the identity of its prospective partner for the deal, which would see NT boxes going out with Tamino already on them, thus greatly enhancing its route to market, particularly in the US (CI No 3,786). They note that there is already an incipient, small-scale collaboration between Compaq and Software AG, whose Bolero application development environment is currently being bundled on Compaq servers by German systems integrator Mahr & Mueller. The application server actually runs on Linux, supplied by German source SUSE., while the development work is carried out on an NT box with a multi-user repository.
