Online social gaming firm Zynga has accepted Bitcoins for payments as the value of virtual currency exceeded the $1,000 (£610) mark again.
Zynga has collaborated with Bitcoin payment service, BitPay, allowing consumers to buy virtual goods for some of its games including FarmVille 2, CastleVille, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille.
The online gaming firm told Reddit that they are testing expanded payment options for players in response to Bitcoin’s rise in popularity around the world.
"We look forward to hearing from our players about the Bitcoin test so we can continue in our efforts to provide the best possible gaming experience," the company said.
In November 2013, the US Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee ruled the digital currency could be used as a legitimate financial service.
Despite Bitcoin’s rise in acceptance in recent months, nations including Norway and China have refused to recognise it as a legitimate currency, while Germany has also planned imposing tax on the virtual currency.
