ZON TVCabo, a subsidiary of ZON Multimedia and Jungo, a NDS Group company and a provider of software services for residential gateways, have unveiled ZON HUB home and small office gateways in the Portuguese market.

The new gateways are based on Jungo’s OpenRG and OpenSMB middleware offerings and JRMS (Jungo Remote Management System) and SCR (Support Cost Reduction).

The companies said that the DOCSIS 3.0-based services enable cable providers to build and enhance their presence and service uptake within the subscriber’s multi-service digital home. The company’s hardware agnostic gateway middleware will also be deployed in ZON TVCabo’s gateways, to be launched at the end of the year.

Jungo’s middleware offerings enable roll out of practical offerings that enrich the spectrum of multimedia packages, including complete broadband access, 802.11n wireless signal within and outside of the home, IP telephony, secure high-speed internet access, print sharing, file sharing and UpNP AV media sharing, all without the need for additional devices.

Eli Lifshitz, Jungo’s director of business development Europe, said: “As we continue to see momentum in the DOCSIS 3.0 space, we at Jungo believe our hardware-agnostic and future-proofing approach will be the way forward for operators around the world. We expect that home convergence will continue to be a top priority for global operators as we enter 2010, which means the value of a secure, wireless and reliable residential gateway will only grow.”
