Zenprise has moved its mobile security and device management platform to the cloud and is offering a 100% uptime guarantee.
The platform, called Zencloud, will be available via public, private or hybrid cloud offerings and is an extension of its on-premise version, the company told CBR. It enables business to manage a mobile fleet via the cloud – from setting and enforcing security policies to installing new applications and setting up new users.
Ahmed Datoo, Zenprise vice president of marketing, told CBR the new platform was a result of the increasing use of mobile devices in the workplace, particularly the use of smartphones and tablets by high-level executives that won’t take no for an answer when it comes to using these personal devices for work purposes.
Zencloud can also remotely wipe devices if they are lost or otherwise compromised and businesses can also wipe devices if an incorrect password is entered 10 times, Datoo told CBR. Access to the corporate network can also be refused or revoked if the phone is running an application the system considers dangerous.
The company is also offering 100% service level agreement (SLA), which Datoo explains means Zenprise will reimburse customers in the case of downtime, not that they will never suffer an outage.
"The system won’t be up all the time, we know that," he said. "But we’re offering a financial incentive to remain up as much as possible. If the system goes down we’ll pay our customers and the amount will double or triple depending on how long the outage lasts."
Zencloud will run on the Citrix XenServer platform in data centres across the world. It supports Apple iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Palm and Android devices.
