YouTube founders launch new video sharing app

Users can shoot 16 seconds of footage each and then use the tool to create as many as 256 clips.

AVOS Systems, a startup company created by the founders of YouTube, have unveiled a new app that allows users to create and share videos with ease.

MixBit, similar to Instragram and Twitter’s Vine, is a video-sharing app with an emphasis on collaboration.

Users can record, edit and publish video clips between one second and an hour in length while sharing them together on MixBit’s community, Facebook and Twitter.

Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who co-created YouTube in 2005 and sold it to Google the following year, said: "We want to encourage more creativity and set people and their content free. Today’s release is the first step in that direction. More will come in time."

Users can also shoot 16 seconds of footage each and then use the tool to create as many as 256 clips, which can be uploaded by different people.

Other features include drag and drop, delete and saving clips and free access to content from other users.

"When we built YouTube, we wanted to help people share their videos with each other and the world. Eight years later, people now upload 100 hours of video to YouTube every minute," added Hurley and Chen.
